I’ve been waiting six months to get my hands on it.

Dermelect / InStyle

Based on the way Dermelect’s nail products have had a profound impact on the health and strength of my nails, I have high hopes for its XL Lash Volumizer eyelash and brow serum. The problem is that it’s been out of stock for the last six months, so I’ve been unable to get my hands on a tube — until now. I’ve been using it for exactly two days, so I don’t have any firsthand experience to report, 3,500+ five-star reviewers will tell you it’s well worth the $49 price tag.

This serum claims to condition lashes and brows via three types of peptides to make them stronger, less prone to shedding and breakage, and therefore, thicker and denser. In previous packaging, the applicator was a mascara-like spoolie, but in the newly restocked version, it’s been swapped with a very thin and precise brush.

The first of the three aforementioned peptides is SymPeptide XLash, which visibly improves thickness and density in two weeks. Second is Capixyl, a combination of peptides and red clover extract that takes a two-pronged approach: It minimizes hair loss while increasing hair growth for fuller, longer lashes. Lastly, there is Widelash, a conditioning ingredient that makes lashes look healthy while pushing follicles into the growth cycle.

A reviewer in their late 60s said they saw “definite lash growth after one week of application.” Another shopper said they have long lashes that go unnoticed because of how “dry and coarse” they are, but all of that — and their lack of volume — have been addressed by using Dermelect’s XL Lash serum.

If there’s one common regret among reviewers, it’s that they lament not taking before and after photos. One such shopper with “super small eyelashes and weird hair growth on [their] eyebrows” said that XL Lash Volumizer improved growth so much, they “had to learn how to apply mascara again.” Plus, after a month of use, their brows were so thick, they had to get them waxed or threaded — which, the reviewer added, “was never a possibility” before.

With all that said, I can’t wait to see the effect it has on my own relatively thin and short lashes. Head to Dermelect to shop the XL Lash Volumizer now that it’s finally back in stock.
